6th July 2012CREWKERNE: Detectives searching for hooded car-jacker
DETECTIVES are hunting a pair of hooded car-jackers who apparently forced a motorist to stop and tried to steal his vehicle.
The incident happened in Cathole Bridge Road, a popular rat-run on the western fringe of Crewkerne.
A police spokesman said: “We are seeking any witnesses with information about an attempted robbery in Crewkerne.
“At around 3pm on Thursday of last week (June 28) a man was driving his car in Cathole Bridge Road when another car overtook and forced the driver to stop.
“Two men got out of what is believed to be a gold or mustard coloured Ford Focus and demanded the car keys from the victim.
“It is thought they were then disturbed by passing motorists and fled the scene.
“Officers investigating this incident would now like to speak to two men both aged in their late 20s.
“The first is described as white, around 6ft tall, of slight build and wearing a black hooded top and grey trousers.
“The second man is described as white, around 5ft 7inches tall and wearing a grey hooded top and dark trousers.
“Anyone who may be able to identify the men or the car, or who may have any other information that could help should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
