LYME Media and Events Ltd, based in Lyme Regis, publishes 14 free weekly community newspapers covering West & South Dorset, South Somerset and East Devon.

Our weekly Dorset titles - View from Bridport, View from Beaminster, View from Lyme Regis, View from Dorchester, View from Weymouth and View from Portland - have a weekly distribution of 24,500; our titles in South Somerset - Crewkerne Weekender, Chard Weekender and Ilminster Weekender - have a combined total of 8,500; our Devon titles - Axminster & Colyton Weekender, Seaton & Beer Weekender, Honiton Weekender, Sidmouth & Sid Vale Weekender and Ottery St Mary Weekender - have a total of 16,000.

Our aim is to provide a comprehensive news coverage of all the areas we cover which reflects the aspirations and achievements of our readers with the emphasis very much on positive community news.

We also provide an editorial, design and distribution service for other publishers.

Somerset Weekender

The Crewkerne Weekender, Chard Weekender and Ilminster Weekender launched in October 2010. A total of 8,500 copies a week are distributed across the area - including supermarkets - every Friday.

These weekly titles have built on the success of the monthly Chard Journal and Ilminster Journal, which ceased publication following the launch of these new papers. 

The emphasis is very much on the community events that make South Somerset such an interesting place to live and work.

Commenting at the launch of the Somerset Weekender, Jerry Ramsdale, owner of Lyme Media & Events, said: “The Chard and Ilminster Journals were very popular and we have responded to requests from a number of advertisers and readers to publish on a weekly basis.

“At the same time we have extended our catchment area to cover Crewkerne, where our staff are well known, and we look forward to producing a colourful and vibrant publication which will focus on the community life of South Somerset with the emphasis on entertainment, eating out, sports and a smattering of news.

“This is a new concept and offers advertisers and readers something different from the other weekly publications in the area.”

Devon Weekender

THE Devon Weekender launched in the Axe Valley and Sid Vale in November 2010, with a third title - covering Honiton - hitting the streets in February 2011.

Lyme Media & Events now has eight editions of the Weekender across South Somerset and East Devon with a combined weekly distribution of 24,500.

The content of the Weekender titles, published on Fridays, is very much geared to lifestyle matters with the emphasis on leisure and entertainments.

The titles also feature community events in its distribution areas with a digest of the top local news stories.

Lyme Media & Events owner Jerry Ramsdale said: “We trialled the Weekender concept in Crewkerne, Chard and Ilminster and they have gone down really well. We are pleased with the start we have made in East Devon which is a much more competitive area and have high hopes of rolling our more titles in the future.

“This is a new concept and offers advertisers and readers something different from the other weekly publications in the area.”

Property View / Weekender Homes

Property View is a free weekly pull-out guide to the local property market, published in the View from Dorset titles.

We also publish a property section, Weekender Homes, in our East Devon and South Somerset titles.

All three titles are amalgamated in our online edition, available each Friday on the carousel at the top of the home page on this web site.

View 2 – The ultimate leisure guide for Dorset

DON'T miss the ten-page entertainment section in your favourite View From free community newspaper every week.

View 2 offers extended coverage of the leisure scene in South and West Dorset.

As well as reporting on all the major events from Weymouth to Lyme Regis, View 2 also includes regular columns on the music scene, television, film and travel.

There is also a free listings section for local events and a leisure directory.
