AN INTERNATIONAL writing competition has been launched in a West Dorset village.

Broadwindsor based The Hysterectomy Association has announced the launch of the writing competition which will see winning enteries used in an anthology to be released in November

The competition is open to any female writers of short stories and poetry in any genre except horror and erotica.

First prize-winners will each receive a cash prize of £400 and publication in “Hysteria 2012” to be published by Crystal Clear Books in association with The Hysterectomy Association.

A further nine winners in each category will also have their entries included in the book.

Linda Parkinson-Hardman, author and founder of the Hysterectomy Association said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for unknown women’s voices to step forward and be heard. We plan to make this an annual event and to regularly champion women’s fiction and poetry to both our members and the broader reading public”.

The UK’s leading organisation for women having a hysterectomy announced the launch on April 3rd. The closing date for entries is 11.59pm on August 31st.

The Hysterectomy Association was founded in 1996 and currently supports more than 200,000 women every month on its website at www.hysterectomy-association.org.uk.

The competition entry fee is £5 per submission.
