A FREE crime prevention day, which aims to kick crime out of the countryside, is being held next week.
The event is part of Dorset Police and partners “Operation Countryside” scheme, which targets members of the rural community
Crime and fire prevention techniques, which are low cost in comparison with the expense and inconvenience of losing a piece of equipment or repairing fire damage, will be introduced to attendees.
Guest speakers will include: Richard Drax, the MP for Dorset South, and Jeremy Pope, the High Sheriff of Dorset.
Superintendant Dave Thorpe, and Dorchester and Sherborne Neighbourhood Inspectors Les Fry and Shawn Whitley, from Dorset Police, will also be speaking at the event.
Mr Craig Baker from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service will be talking about how to prevent rural arson.
Clive Harris from NFU Mutual and Adam Quinney, the Vice Chairman of the NFU will also be in attendance to provide statistics and costs on the claims made as a result of rural crime.
Police Constable Chrissie Plumley will be attending from the Dorset Police Olympic Planning Team to discuss what the Olympics will mean for Dorset.

The free event at Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester will be held on April 27th between 9am and 4pm and will include a light lunch.
