14th October 2011HAWKCHURCH: Hawkchurch Fete Committee hands out over £2,000 to local causes
THE Hawkchurch Fete Committee has handed out more than £2,000 to local charities.
The money was raised from this year’s event, which saw a whole week of family activities in the lead up the fete on August Bank Holiday Monday.
The main beneficiary this year was the St John the Baptist Church Tower Appeal Fund, who received a cheque for £1,000. Also receiving donations were the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (£400), Hawkchurch Football Club (£250) and Hawkchurch Village Hall Committee (£500)
The cheques were handed out during the village harvest supper celebrations on Sunday, October 9th. Donations were made during the supper for harvest produce, with all proceeds going to Shelterbox.
The Hawkchurch Fete Committee are appealing for bands and musicians to get in touch to perform at next year’s fete. In the past, music of all types has been represented at the fete from jazz to brass bands and even steel drums.
