25th July 2011SIDMOUTH: Staff in the stocks at garden party
Residents, with their families and guests enjoyed the annual garden party at Holmesley Residential/Nursing Home on the outskirts of Sidmouth.
Activities manager Sue Hart told The Sid ValeWeekender: “The weather helped ensure a very pleasant afternoon was spent in the gardens at the party held two weeks ago, with entertainment provided by Tony Marino and Seaton Majorettes.
“There were a variety of stalls ranging from crafts to cakes; and Pimms and cream teas were enjoyed by all.
”The stocks were of particular interest as they gave the residents the opportunity to douse various members of staff with very wet sponges!”
Proceeds from the party raised £465, which will go to the Emanuel Stepping Stones Foundation. Holmesley’s matron, Chaslyn Bryant and a friend set up the foundation to provide a nursery school for children in Manjai Kunda, Gambia, without which they would not have an education.
