25th July 2011SIDMOUTH: Twinning Circle tea party
SIDMOUTH’S Twinning Circle dodged the showers last weekend and held a social tea party, including announcing the latest plans for its forthcoming visit to Le Locle, its Swiss twin, this autumn.
2011 is a landmark year for the Twinning Circle, with plans underway to send an iconic red BT phone box to Le Locle, which will be installed in the specially re-named Sidmouth Square.
At the party, held last Sunday at the home of members Linda and Paul Blay, the Twinning Circle discussed travel arrangements for its trip on September 26th, with a group of 18 people to date, who will be hosted by Swiss families for several days, and some going on to Geneva afterwards. Len Bull, who has been organising the trip, said that everyone had been very helpful, including Marie Moore, for her French-speaking skills.
The party also included a fundraising raffle, with thanks to Barbara Poole, and not to forget Christine Bull and Ann Bishop for their help in the kitchen, and providing cakes, plus many other tasty nibbles also contributed by other members.
The Twinning Circle is always happy to welcome new members. For more details, please contact Brian Poole, membership secretary, telephone: 01395 512981.
