BEAMINSTER: Action packed open day

AN ACTION packed open day will mark the start of the season at Beaminster Community Pool this Easter Sunday.

B-Fit (Beaminster Community Sports Assocations Ltd) is marking the start of the 2011 summer season with a day of free events at their facilities.

The day will start with a morning of free swimming at the pool from 10am –1pm including a family swim, an Aquafit class and a scuba diving taster session.

The sports hall will hold taster sessions of sports including cricket, gymnastics, cricket, short tennis, spinning, aerobics, table tennis, tai-kwon do and volleyball. The Dorset Action van will also be in attendance outside with a bouncy castle and skate boarding.

The full swimming programme will follow on over the summer months and a new timetable is available now.

The timetable includes sessions for all the family, for adults only, and for older people; as well as a range of Aquafit classes and swimming lessons for beginners and improvers.

Funding from West Dorset District Council and the ASA also means the pool can once again offer some free sessions for children and older people.

If you would like to volunteer as receptionist, poolside assistant or lifeguard at the pool then you are also encouraged to attend on the day. Full training and support is offered.

Meanwhile the new Sports Hall programme is also launched at Easter with a range of new classes and activities to follow on.

B-Fit Chairman Kevin Morgan said: “B-Fit is really pleased to be offering a whole range of sports and activities to local people in 2011 and we welcome all local people. We hope that over the year there will be something for everyone and in our new programme gets local people up and active in the Spring and Summer.”

The open day will be this Sunday, April 23rd.
