25th July 2012SALWAY ASH: School netball team among the best
SALWAY Ash school netball team took the bronze medal place in a countywide School Games competition.
The win makes the pupils the third best school team in Dorset after they missed out in the semi-finals, but won the resulting play-off for the bronze medal position.
The mixed team included Josh Frampton, Callum Mullins and George Wyrill and Lauren Rendell, Eloise Matthews, Emily Hendry and Lydia James
The pupils won their chance to compete after going through the West Dorset netball tournament held at Sir John Colfox School.
The team played five group games winning two, drawing two and losing one.
The School Games was Dorset’s way of celebrating the Olympic year.
There were many sports being played including; tri golf, rugby, table tennis, quad kids, rowing.
The day followed the traditional Olympic way of an opening ceremony and closing ceremony with everyone together.
After this event some children and adults had tickets to see the Olympic Torch arrive on Bournemouth beach.
The success marked an end to an exceptional year for the school after it came seventh in the National Schools Swimming Competition in Sheffield.

I would like to congratulate netball team of the Salway Ash School for winning the bronze medal in countywide school games competition. Though they lost their semifinals and secured third positions, participation is all that counts. These kind of sports activities really bring an all-round development for children.
