Man trapped after collision

INVESTIGATIONS by police are ongoing after a teenager had to be cut from his car following a collision on Tuesday (February 24th) morning.

The 18 year-old man, who was trapped, had to be cut from his Rover car by fire-crews along the A30, Chard to Crewkerne road, at Windwhistle at around 8:11am The man was taken to Musgrove Hospital's minor injury department via road ambulance, although the air ambulance also attended.

Fire service crews using road rescue equipment released the man who suffered only superficial injuries following his collision with a refuse lorry.

Fire crews from Chard and a fire engine and rescue tender from Yeovil dealt with the incident.

The road, which was under heavy fog, was closed until 11.30am while police investigated the area.

The driver of the refuse lorry was unharmed in the collision.
