10th February 2012CHARD: Books all round at Buckland
THE SCHOOL Council at Buckland St. Mary CE VA Primary school has been hosting a Scholastic Book Fair for the past week.
Great new books, as well as old favourites, filled the shelves and were on offer to the parents and children to purchase.
Especially appreciated was Megan Burton who helped man the money tin for the week. Teacher Rachael Auton said: “The book fair helps raise money for the school to also purchase books, a win, win situation.”
Three competitions were run as part of the week: a colouring competition; a design a new Roald Dahl type character; and a design a new Roald Dahl book title and cover.
Alfie Hine, James Salaman and Lewis Smith won the prizes respectively. The school’s chosen charity The Children”s Hospice South West, was also supported during the week with a donation pot for loose change.
