1st December 2011WEYMOUTH: Ghostly goings on around the town
PARANORMAL enthusiasts and those curious to know more about Weymouth’s ghostly goings on were amongst people attending the launch of Alex Woodward’s new book Haunted Weymouth.
Alex is founder of The Weymouth Ghost Walks Company and already had a wealth of knowledge about the town’s darker side when she was approached by national publisher The History Press to write an edition for their “Haunted” series.
She said: “I was delighted to be asked as the book would be the first of its kind to focus on Weymouth rather than having just the odd one or two spooky stories about the town mixed in with others from all over the county.”
Haunted Weymouth includes accounts gathered by Alex when she was researching for the ghost walks in adddition to a host of new material drawn from personal experiences and local legends from around the town plus a selection from Portland, Abbotsbury, Lulworth and Warmwell.
Alex said: “I’m particularly proud that the book features many previously unpublished stories and the range of ghosts and locations where they’ve reputed to have been sighted is really diverse too, along with a huge time span from Roman times up to earlier this year!”
Haunted Weymouth is available from Imagine Books in St Alban Street, Weymouth, and other local and online retailers. For more information see www.weymouthghostwalks.co.uk
