14th October 2011WEST DORSET: Artist talks at Powerstock hut
A series of free artists’ talks in West Dorset begins on October 23rd with a talk by artist filmmaker Anna Lucas.
Anna makes films which explore the everyday social networks and interconnections between people. She will present her earlier films and show extracts from them, and discuss the new work she is making for Powerstock Common as part of the Road for the Future project. The talk is at Powerstock Hut from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, October 23rd.
A ree minibus will run from Bridport to Powerstock Hut with a specially designed artist’s intervention to entertain passengers during the short journey. The minibus will leave the Nationwide bus stop, West Street, Bridport at 4.30pm sharp. There will be two return trip options: Leaving Powerstock at 7pm, arriving Bridport at 7.30pm, or for those wanting to continue talking in the Three Horseshoes in Powerstock over a drink, 8.30pm, arriving back in Bridport at 9pm. Seats are bookable on a first come, first served basis. To book your seat, please contact Jo Morland, Project Manager on 01305 860461 or [email protected].
Road for the Future is a year long collaborative project which looks at our ideas about the countryside, transport and access, and contributes to the debate about its future sustainability. There is a website which captures artists’ work-in-progress throughout the project at www.roadforthefuture.info. Road for the Future is based at Powerstock Common, a publicly accessible, wildlife rich reserve which sits at the heart of the proposed multi-use Trailway being developed by Sustrans between Maiden Newton and Bridport.
The talks series continues with Judith Dean on Sunday, November 27th, from 5 -7 pm at Powerstock Hut, with talks by Adam Chodzko and Anna Best planned in early 2012. For more details please contact Anna Best on 07810 374745 or email [email protected]
