AXMINSTER: Complete Meats a champion butcher

COMPLETE Meats of Axminster has won a Champion Award in the BPEX South West Awards, which recognises excellence in meat products.

Complete Meats was one of many butchers in the region who put forward products at the BPEX roadshow at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter last week. From the 131 products put forward, 87 per cent received an award and 12 products were selected as Champions.

Among them were Complete Meats who retained the Champion title for the Traditional Pork Sausage category for the second year running.

Shaun Vining, owner of Complete Meats, rates the category as the toughest of all 12. He said: “We scored 99 out of 100 for our Traditional Pork Sausage which is very good and means we keep the Champion title for another year. The standard is always very good in this category and it’s a tough one to win.

“Entering the roadshows over the years has helped us to perfect our products. We’ve always taken on board the feedback of the judges, who scrutinise everything from appearance, taste and smell to how the product cooks. Of course, ultimately it’s down to the real judges, our customers, who we always like to thank for their continued loyalty to us.”
