29th September 2011SALWAY ASH: World folk comes to Salway Ash on Friday
BRAGATANGA start their autumn tour this Friday (September 30th) with a performance at Salway Ash Village Hall.
The four-piece band create an exotic and vibrant mix of world folk music with songs and tunes from Romania, Macedonia, Brittany, Malta, Mexico, Scotland, Italy, Turkey, Finland, Bulgaria and more, as well as some originals.
BragaTanga are based in Cornwall but draw experience and inspiration from all over the world.
BragaTanga consists of four well-travelled and well-seasoned musicians with considerable musical and theatrical experience.
Expect a few original songs from singer and accordionist Jim Carey, who has created inspirational music for the likes of Cornwall’s Kneehigh and Miracle Theatre Companies, and the Eden Project.
Although the band is only two years old they have already had considerable success with the Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset rural touring schemes.
Autumn 2011 and Spring 2012 sees the band adding Hampshire and Wiltshire via Hog the Limelight and Rural Arts Wiltshire”
They have had a many successes over the last two years at some exciting venues, including the Port Eliot Festival, Eden Project, Minack with Miracle Theatre, the International Festival of Food and Drink, Falmouth Oyster Festival, Exeter Summer Festival, Truro, Plymouth and the Exeter Respect Festivals.
A bit of a folk dance knees up is to be expected at some point in the evening, for those who wish to indulge.
