24th August 2011BRIDPORT: Jon takes the helm of Brit Valley Rotary
By Stuart Broom
MEMBERS and partners of the Rotary Club of Brit Valley recently met at the Haddon House Hotel to welcome the club’s new president, Jon Winkle, and to thank outgoing president Leanne Roche for everything she had achieved over the last 12 months.
Leanne in turn thanked all those who had supported her throughout a very successful Rotary year, before performing her final official task - to present cheques to the value of £3,650 to those charities the club has supported over the last few months, with much of the funding coming from the profits of their annual dog show.
Jill Gardner, from Help for Heroes, was present to receive their cheque, as was Katerin Batten whom the club had sponsored for a 10k run in aid of Cancer Research.
Club secretary David Conroy received a cheque on behalf of Wessex Heartbeat, whilst, in addition, cheques have been sent to ShelterBox and to a new charity, Hounds for Heroes.
Leanne was delighted to install Jon, who outlined his plans for the forthcoming year. It is clear that the Brit Valley Rotary Club are going to have a busy time!
