10th August 2011LYME REGIS: £2,000 for air ambulance
The Rotary Club of Lyme Regis has donated £2,000 to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, mostly from funds raised at the recent Golf Day at the Lyme Regis Golf Club.
“The Air Ambulance Service receives no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and relies solely on the general public to raise the £1.4 million a year it costs to keep flying,” said Richard Finch, who helped run the Golf Day on behalf of the Rotary Club.
“We never know when we might need the services of this dedicated and professional group of people, and we are proud to be able to support them through events like these. Thanks to all the local and regional sponsors who helped make the Golf Day the success it was.”
A total of 36 teams of four took part in the 5th Annual Rotary Charity Golf Day, organised jointly by the Rotary Clubs of Lyme Regis and Axminster. All funds raised go to local charities.
