2nd July 2015BRIDPORT: Weldmar size up their next challenge
Weldmar Hospicecare have launched their 2016 Overseas Challenge and are offering the chance for people to take part in this amazing experience.
The fundraising walk will take place from October 15th to 23rd, and the team will trek through a remote section of the Great Wall of China. The five-day trek will include walking through wild landscapes with distant green river valleys, mountain peaks and one of the wonders of the world as the backdrop. The trip will be rounded off with a visit to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
This will mark Weldmar’s fourth trekking challenge, with previous fundraising expeditions including trekking across the Sahara Desert in 2013, navigating through Iceland in 2014 and, from the August 5th-9th, twelve supporters and Matt Smith, the challenge organiser, will be crossing three countries in three days as they hike around Mount Blanc.
Of the Great Wall of China, Mr Smith said: “This is no holiday, though, the trip is graded as moderate to challenging as the terrain is quite hilly and undulating with steep sections to contend with both on and off the wall. The bathroom facilities will be basic with no toilets on trek and no shower facilities – baby wipes will be your best friend!”
