17th October 2012WEYMOUTH: Paralympic support for breast cancer campaign
PARALYMPIC sailing gold medallist Helena Lucas visited Weymouth’s Asda to back the store’s Tickled Pink breast cancer charity.
Helena, the first ever British Paralympic medallist in sailing, said she thought the campaign was very important.
She added: “Breast cancer could happen to any woman, so it is a great thing to be involved with Tickled Pink and to support its efforts.”
Helena helped with a special Tickled Pink bingo and raffle stand highlighting the campaign.
Asda community life champion Sandy West said: “It was absolutely fantastic that Helena gave up her time to help us. For her to come here was phenomenal.”
Helena, who has been nominated as Sailor of the Year by Rolex, presented two Games Maker batons to representatives from Beechcroft school in Weymouth and Underhill junior school on Portland.
They will award their baton each month to an inspirational student.
