27th September 2012BRIDPORT: First craft fair for Bridports newly revamped town hall
by Chris Denne
TOWN surveyor, Daryl Chambers, summed up the first craft fair at Bridport Town Hall as “on the whole pretty positive,” although he admitted there were “things to take on board”.
Mr Chambers orchestrated the event in a bid to get more people to use the recently-revamped historic building.
Improved signage and background music from the off were some of the comments from stallholders that Mr Chambers listened to at the close of business.
He said: “On the whole it’s been pretty positive. It’s one of those things where once it gets established, more people will come.
“For a first day I think it’s been pretty good.
He added: “I’ve listened to what the stallholders have told me and there are certainly things to take on board.”
Julie Penny, running Aunt Jane’s Attic – a hand-made card stall – said she would come again.
She said: “It’s a nice hall, a lovely place to be. You get to meet nice people here too. At times it’s been quite busy.
Painter Hilary Buckley said: “It’s an exciting new venue. It has nice light.”
