19th September 2012AXMINSTER: Girls lead in reading Olympics
Forty children have so far completed Axminster Library's summer reading challenge, Story Lab.
Participants were tasked with reading any six library books during the summer holidays, collecting bronze, silver and gold stickers as they went along.
Those who completed the challenge were invited to attend a closing ceremony in late August with an Olympic-style medal ceremony, complete with podium, flowers and gold medals.
Penny Davis, of Axminster Library, said that 121 children started the challenge, and added: "If children still want to complete the challenge in the next couple of weeks, they can - there are still some gold medals left and we would love to see more boys gaining their gold medals. So far, the girls are beating the boys 25-15."
