1st August 2012SIDMOUTH: Local company looks for charity quiz support
Gilbert Stephens LLP, who have offices in Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth, will host Exeter's Best Charity Quiz, which is raising funds for the West of England School and College (WESC) for young people with little or no sight.
WESC is the firm’s charity of the year and so far over £1,000 has been raised, through the Great West Run, as well as organising a quiz in Sidmouth, a raffle and various other events.
Chief executive Philip Luckham said: “We are delighted to be hosting this event as the West of England School and College is very close to our hearts here at Gilbert Stephens. We are hoping that as many people as possible will sign up for the quiz - the questions won’t be too taxing and we can guarantee it will be a really good evening, having fun while raising money for a very good cause.”
The quiz takes place at the college’s campus on Topsham Road on Thursday, September 13th and Gilbert Stephens is looking for other teams to join them on the night. At a cost of £6 per person, teams are invited to go along and answer a selection of general knowledge questions - with a special prize for the winning team.
Caroline Burkie, fundraising manager WESC, commented: “The last quiz we held with Gilbert Stephens was a complete sell out and we would urge people to book early as we hope this event will also be just as popular. We hope to fill our hall with quiz enthusiasts and people looking to have fun to support the blind and partially sighted children, most of whom contend with additional needs.”
Gilbert Stephens are hoping to raise around £2,000 from this event for the West of England School, through entry fees - which also includes a buffet - and a raffle on the night.
