WEST DORSET: Proud day for council chairman
Chairman of West Dorset District Council, Cllr Gillian Summers, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to welcome the Olympic Flame to West Dorset and are incredibly proud of the huge numbers of people who turned out, despite the wet weather, to line the route and cheer on the torchbearers.
“We would like to thank residents, stewards, town and parish councils and council staff for making the Olympic Torch Relay through West Dorset such a success. “We would particularly like to thank the community groups and organisations who laid on special events and activities to mark the Torch Relay as it passed through their area. A number of these had made use of the special grants available from West Dorset District Council to help communities celebrate this unique and historic event.” CommentsThere are no comments yet.
