13th July 2012DORCHESTER: Writer's award
DORCHESTER writer Gail Aldwin, has won a prize for her flash fiction at the Winchester Writers’ Conference.
Gail Aldwin picked up the top prize in the Slim Volume, Small Edition competition. She submitted a selection of very short stories, also known as flash fiction, for consideration.
Adjudicator Geoff Fisher of CPI Antony Rowe Limited awarded the prize and gave feedback at the Writers’ Awards Reception in the Strip Auditorium at the University of Winchester.
Gail won the opportunity to see a collection of her writing in print. She will receive 60 copies of a monochrome paperback book containing her work. The book titled Four Buses will be available in early 2013.
Gail Aldwin says she enjoys writing short stories and flash fiction “as an antidote to the slog of completing a novel”.
Her work appears on-line with Paragraph Planet, Five Stop Story, Café Lit and Ink, Sweat and Tears.
Four print anthologies being printed in 2012, including the recent Dorset Voices and Kissing Frankenstein and Other Stories, contain examples of her writing.
