2nd May 2012LYME REGIS: A royal honour
MARCUS and Diana Dixon of Lyme Regis Development Trust were invited to meet the Queen during her tour of the South West yesterday (Tuesday).
Mr and Mrs Dixon travelled to Sherborne Abbey where the Queen was also introduced to schoolchildren, bishops and former Lord Lieutenants of Dorset as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the country.
The couple were chosen to meet Her Majesty after winning the Jubilee People’s Million grant of £60,000 for The Hub youth club. The Queen spoke to them briefly about the project, saying it was good they were doing things for young people.
Mr Dixon said it rained all morning and stopped just in time for the Queen to arrive in a bright pink outfit. “We were delighted and honoures to be invited to represent Lyme Regis,” he added.
Fran Williams and Ayvin Rogers have also been recognised for their efforts in helping to secure the grant with an invite to a Buckingham Palace party this month.
