20th April 2012CREWKERNE: Family fundraiser in memory of Ruth
GLORIOUS sunshine greeted the Osborne family of Crewkerne and their supporters for the second Classics at the Mill fundraiser for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The car show combined with family fun day at Haselbury Mill was bigger and better this year and attracted hundreds of people. There was a great variety of classic and a few vintage vehicles on display, together with a fire engine and motorcycles.
In the tithe barn there were stalls, refreshments and a grand raffle, whilea hog roast served by the Haselbury Mill staff, was gone in a very short time. The event was very busy, spread across the site and the Army Cadets did a fantastic job of marshalling traffic in the car park.
The show was started last year by members of the extended Osborne family, who all belong to Somerset Classic Minis, in memory of Ruth Osborne from Crewkerne who died of motor neurone disease aged just 51. It had previously raised just under £1,000 for the charity and this year’s show added £1459.87.
Ruth’s daughter Hannah who was the main organiser of the day was delighted with the response and would like to thank everyone who made it such a great day.
The wanted everyone to have a fun day but also to be made aware of the need to support funding for research into crippling progressive neurodegenerative disease.
