DORSET FOOTBALL: Islanders still hunting title double

Premier League

GOALS from Liam Currell (2) and Lewis Whyton helped Portland United move back up to top spot after a 3-1 win at Parley Sports.

Wincanton stay in the top four courtesy of a 2-1 victory at Weymouth, Josh Houghton netted for the Terras. 

Holt United stay in 5th place after a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s against Bridport Reserves. Darren Watts scored for the Bees.

Chickerell United went down 4-2 at Blandford United despite goals from Nick Etherington and Josh Why.

Senior League

Having completed their fixtures top-of-the-table Wareham Rangers head the table by three points but can only sit back and wait to see if Portland United can secure four points in their last two games to pip them. 

Portland United hammered Upwey & Broadwey 5-1 on Saturday with goals from Simon Crouch (2), Tom Bell, Grant Chance and Liam Greatrex.

Piddletrenhide United fine end of season form continued when thrashed Chickerell United 5-0 with their goals coming from Jason Derham (3), Neil Kellaway and Jon Churchill.

Meanwhile Weymouth Sports and Okeford United battled it out for a 0-0 draw.

DIVISION ONE

Second placed Mere Town won 6-2 at Kangaroos with the ‘Roos consolation goals both coming from Jason Hillier.

Granby Rovers moved into the top three following a 2-0 against Merley Cobham Sports with their strikes coming from Lee Patterson and Nathan Aston..

Will Sonner and Matt Jones netted for Dorchester Town in their 2-0 win against Ship Inn Wool.

DIVISION TWO

Corfe Mullen United stay top despite beaing held to a 2-2 draw by Gillingham Town.

Two points behind are Bridport but they have played a game. The Bees beat Lytchett RT  2-0 with goals from Chris Gale and Chris Symes.

DIVISION THREE LEAGUE CUP

Section One

GoalS from Elliott Gould and Karl Edgar carried Galaxy FC to their first win in the group when they defeated Okeford united 2-0.

DIVISION FIVE

Pimperne Sports finished their league fixtures off on a high following their 9-1 win against Dorchester CC. The Dorchester consolation goal coming from Roger Frapwell.

DIVISIONS FOUR & FIVE 

LEAGUE CUP - Section One

Galaxy FC finished their group matches in top spot after they beat Marnhull 3-0 thanks in the main to a second-half hat-trick from Ben Milton.
