11th April 2012LYME REGIS: Hundreds line the streets of Lyme for annual Easter Bonnet Parade

HUGE crowds lined the streets of Lyme Regis on Easter Sunday for the annual Easter Bonnet Parade.
Many children and adults joined in the festivities with colourful bonnets. Following juding, they were led down Broad Street by town crier Alan Vian and the Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Sally Holman, accompanied by mayoress Jane Whittington and Councillor Anita Williams.
The procession was followed by Lyme Regis Majorettes.
Entrants gathered at Theatre Square where they were presented their prizes by the mayor.
The Voysey family of Lyme Regis came out on top, taking away six prizes between them. Sue Foster was named best entry overall, taking away the Treetops Cup, Bethany Pomeroy was presented a jubilee coin for the best children’s entry aged 0-15.
Mary Cruickshank was presented a special Jubilee Cup for the best entry in red, white and blue, and twins Poppy and Scarlet Berren-Jones were also presented prizes for best entry aged between 0 and 5 years.
The event was organised by Councillor Barbara Austin MBE and Judith Pothecary. Generous sponsors included: Treetops Residential Home, Chicks Computers of Combpyne, Colin and Judith Pothecary, The Rock Point Inn, Staples Stores and Pop Goes The Weasel.

Ages 0-3: 1st Bertie Foster, 2nd Fleur Coe, 3rd Keiron Scott, 4th Austin Williams, 5th Phoenix Williams.
Ages 4-5: 1st Guy Hadden, 2nd Erin Saunders, 3rd Jack Saunders, 4th Minnie Mann, 5th Jacob Denning.
Ages 6-7: 1st Libby Brown, 2nd Holly Maurine, 3rd Kirsten Huxford, 4th Jack Moyes, 5th Anastacia Moyes.
Ages 8-10: 1st Bethany Pomeroy, 2nd Freya Morgan, 3rd Marie Wren, 4th Charlotte Tweedale, 5th Jasmin Voysey.
Ages 11-15: 1st Laurel Gurling, 2nd Megan Voysey, 3rd Holly Gurling.
Pushchairs and prams: 1st Keir Tweedale, 2nd Willow Voysey.
Ladies: Sue Foster, Elaine Voysey, 3rd Jean Gosney.
Gentlemen: 1st James Voysey, 2nd Roy Huxford.
