SOUTH WEST PENINSULA
Division One (East)
AXMINSTER Town suffered their biggest home defeat for many years as they were thrashed 6-0 in their penultimate match t Sector Lane by Newton Abbot Spurs last weekend.
The visitors led 2-0 at the interval and struck 4 times after the restart - hardy a debut to remember for new goalkeeper Danny Lewis who was standing-in for the injured Chris Higgs.
“We were dreadful - our worst performance of the season”, said manager Ray Self.
After a 90-year stint the team are due to run-out at Sector Lane for the last time tomorrow (there are still two Reserve team home fixtures to be played) when they entertain Crediton United.
Self is without Jamie Chamberlain who has left the club and Nathan Dewdney who has joined Newton Abbot Spurs.
However, with Chard Town inactive, the squad is boosted by the inclusion of goalkeeper Stuart Parris, Jon Hurford and possibly Gary Knight.
“Hopefully we can banish last week’s performance and end our time here on a high note. The last 10 years have had a lot of high points, I’d like to think we can finish on a positive”, said Self.
Squad: Parris, Pidgeon, L.Beer, Griffin, Gage, Walsh, Galloway (captain), Seward, Grinsill, Turner, Downes, Walsh, Hurford, Knight.
Three games in six days caught up with Sidmouth Town as they failed to build on the 2-1 victory over Ottery St Mary with defeats against Teignmouth on Saturday and Crediton on Monday.
Andy Thomson scored the only goal in Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Teignmouth whilst Andy Isaac netted the consolation in Monday evening’s 2-1 defeat under the floodlights at Crediton.
The Vikings entertain Budleigh Salterton tomorrow. Manager Paddy Thomas has named the following squad: Ashford, Whitty, Burdus, Tarr, Thomas, Banks, Baker, Chaplin, Couch, Isaac, Thomson, Knight, Dorman, Brace, Lister.
Meanwhile, for the second week in succession, Ottery St Mary are left without a fixture.
DEVON & EXETER LEAGUE

A 2-1 defeat at Heavitree Social United may just have dealt Seaton Town’s title aspirations a fatal blow.
The hosts led at the interval but Mark Perham nodded home a corner to level things up in the 70th minute.
The Greens were then denied a possible match winner by a superb save and seconds later a 35-yard scorcher at the other end flashed past Dave Perham in the Seaton goal.
Last weekends’ results leaves Josh Stunell’s team with a six-point lead over rivals St Martins with four matches remaining.
The Saints do however have eight to play and are quite clearly favourites to lift the silverware now.
But Seaton remain in the driving seat to clinch second spot and with it promotion to the South-West Peninsula League.
Beer Albion went down 3-0 at home to Topsham Town and have no game tomorrow.

CHARLIE Selley, Rob Pfeiffer, Elliot Dyer and player-manager Mark Kingdon shared the goals as Feniton beat Tipton St John 4-0 in last weekend’s Division One local-derby at Acland Park.
Kingdon makes four changes for tomorrow’s visit by Culm United.
Pfeiffer has returned to university whilst Ben Allen is doubtful with injury. But Kieron Johnson and skipper Andy Hawkins return.

Tanners’ squad and manager Keith Somers turn their their attention to the Bill Slee Cup and tomorrow’s semi-final at home against Newton St Cyres.
For the first time this season Somers has a full squad to pick from, he said: “Everyones desperate to be involved. Wayne Waddon, Chris Platts and Simon McClellan all missed last weeks win against Broadclyst.
“The three absentees will be in the squad but will have to stew until just before kick-off to find out if they have a starting berth.
“Ian Gooding is travelling back from Chichester to be involved as he was pivotal in our quarter-final victory at Bickleigh.”
Squad: Reid, Sims, Burgess, Gooding, Tratt, Somers, Moore, J Potter, M Potter, Maddocks, Toller

PERRY STREET LEAGUE
THERE were mixed fortunes for Millwey Rise last Saturday.
The first team lost at their new Harry’s Field home for the first time.
Rise were beaten 3-1 by Forton Rangers in the Arthur Gage cup semi-final and in the process missed out on being one of the last teams to run-out on rivals Axminster Town’s Sector Lane Ground.
Millwey, with leaders Forton Rangers inactive, can climb back up to top spot in Division One with victory over lowly, but improving, Ilminster Colts at Cloakham Lawns tomorrow.
There was better news from the Reserves who cruised to a 5-1 win in their Bill Bailey Cup semi-final at Shepton Beauchamp Reserves.
Levi Hoole, Mark Pike, Marc Jenkins, Ashley Kelleher and Dan Murnane scored the goals which sees the team in their first cup final appearance since 2006.
On that occasion the Kenny Hodges Cup was lifted after Chard United Reseves were beaten 4-2 on penalties after the game had ended 2-2 after extra-time.
Millwey’s opponents in this season’s Bill Bailey Final will be Combe A.
The match is scheduled for Thurday, April 19th at Beaminster FC.
Back in the league and goals from Bradley King and Phil Derryman couldn’t save Farway United as they fell to a hat-trick from 16-year-old striker Luke Williams in a 5-2 home defeat by West & Middle Chinnock at Eastlee Park.
Farway Reserves will look to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Chard United Reserves when they entertain Division Four title-favourites Ilminster Town A.
Hawkchurch United’s fine form continued with a surprise 4-0 win at Division Three leaders Waytown Hounds.
Jake Bearpark took centre stage with a superb hat-trick with top-scorer John Legg chipping in with a single for his 15th of the campaign.
The Hawks will look for more of the same when they travel to second-placed Chard United tomorrow.
Finally, Hawkchurch United Reserves put in a good performance, with Jess Hopson netting, in a narrow 2-1 reverse at Combe last weekend.
The Hawks’ second-string entertain Crewkerne Rangers Reserves tomorrow.
