22nd March 2012DORCHESTER: Win a copy of 'Kid's Dorset'
With Easter just around the corner we’ve teamed up with local publishers, Roving Press, to offer a copy of their latest book, “Kid’s Dorset.”
It offers almost a hundred pages of idea for parents, carers and grandparents who might be stuck for something to do with the children.
Dorchester author Sarah-Jane Forder has spent a year researching the book, working with photographer Daniel Rushall and designer Emily Moxon to put it together in time for Thursday’s launch at the county museum.
The book’s publishers, Roving Press, are based at Frampton and the book itself was printed by local firm, Henry Ling.
More than 40 places and associated activities are featured in the book, each suggested and tested by local children and their parents.
“Many of the ideas are free, proving that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a good time,” said Sarah-Jane.
“Children are so lucky to grow up here – it’s a fantastic place to be.”
Each of the featured attractions has essential details, and often little-known facts, written about it, together with tips on how to get there and where to park.
Among the attractions are Abbotsbury’s Swannery; crab catching at West Bay, the Old Crown Court and Kingston Maurward at Dorchester, the ‘ammonite graveyard’ at Lyme and Morcombelake’s Golden Cap.
Born and brought up in Dorset, Sarah-Jane Forder now lives in Dorchester.
She has spent a career in book and magazine publishing.
To win a copy of the book answer the question: “Where are the publishers of Kid’s Dorset based” and send your answer, by email, to Trevor Bevins - [email protected].
