21st March 2012LYME REGIS: A fourth year in office for Lyme mayor Sally
By Francesca Evans
COUNCILLOR Sally Holman has been re-elected to serve a fourth year as Mayor of Lyme Regis.
Councillor Holman was elected at last Wednesday’s meeting of Lyme Regis Town Council, after being nominated by long-standing councillor and six-times mayor, Barbara Austin.
The proposal was seconded by Councillor Mark Gage and approved with just Councillor George Symonds abstaining. This will be Councillor Holman’s fourth year as mayor, having served a first term in office in 2007 and 2008.
Councillor Anita Williams, who won a seat in the May 2011 elections, was elected as deputy mayor, taking on the role from Councillor Daryl Turner.
She was nominated by Councillor Holman, seconded by Councillor Chris Clipson and unanimously voted into the position.
Councillor Williams missed her election, as she had been at Dorchester Hospital all day with her father, former councillor and mayor Stan Williams, who had a suspected broken hip.
Councillor Holman will host the annual Civic Night for invited guests at the Woodmead Halls on Saturday, March 31st to mark the end of her current year in office. She will be officially invested as mayor again, along with Councillor Williams, at the mayor-making ceremony later this year.
