1st March 2012PORTLAND: Red, white and blue fabric
DO any readers have any plain or patterned red, white and blue material which could be used to make bunting for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations?
If you do then community coordinator Wilma Butler of Portland’s Community 2000 Centre wants to hear from you because inmates of Portland’s Verne Prison have offered to make the bunting for distribution and use all over the island during festivities.
Wilma’s office in the centre at Straits is a drop-off point for the material until a suitable collecting depot can be set up.
She said: “Portland is a Royal Manor and will be at the forefront of festivities.
“To enable the inmates to make the bunting they need donations of red, white and blue material.”
Anyone able to help should deliver or send their material donations toWilma Butler, Community Coordinator Community 2000 Portland Ltd, The Community Centre, 6 Straits, Portland, Dorset DT5 1 HG.
