Dear’s double lifts Poundbury into promotion slot
PREMIER DIVISION
PORTLAND United’s title aspirations received a blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Cranborne.
A Dan Loader OG earned the Islanders their point.
Moving up fast on the rails are Hamorthy Rec who hammered Bridport Reserves 5-1 on their own St Mary’s turf. Ash Clarke netted for the Bees.
Doubles from Josh Why and Scott Henley and a single from Nick Etherington saw the Chickerell United chickens strut their way to a 5-1 demolition of Shaftesbury.
Doomed Sherborne Town Reserves finally broke their 25 game winless duck with a morale-boosting 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Weymouth Reserves.
SENIOR DIVISION
Portland United maintained their slender one point lead at the top with a 2-1 home win against Blandford with their strikes coming from Simon Crouch and Andrew Perkins.
Wareham Rangers moved back into contention with their first win in five games when they thrashed Bishops Caundle 11-0 on their own turf – the biggest win of the day.
A Charlie Kenderdine goal was enough to earn third placed Upwey & Broadwey all three points from the visit of Kingston Lacy.
Chickerell United and Weymouth Sports drew 1-1 with the Chickens strike coming from Liam Coles.
Piddletrenthide United moved further away from the foot of the League with a 4-2 win at Gillingham Town.
DIVISION ONE
Poundbury Rovers moved up into the top two thanks to a double from Matt Dear in a 2-0 win over visiting Wincanton Town.
Meanwhile goals from Lee Pattison (2) and Marcus Simpson saw Granby Rovers to a 3-1 victory over Bere.
DIVISION TWO
Corfe Mullen’s lead at the top was eroded to seven points by a 5-3 reverse at Bridport 3rds. It could have been worse for the leaders who trailed 5-0 after 35 minutes and have now lost three on the spin. Bees’ marksmen were Michael Hailu (2), James Bird, Richard Pincombe and Carl Bulman.
11th Signal moved back into the top three with a 4-2 victory Weymouth Spartans.
Dorchester Sports stay in sixth place after their single goal victory against their visitors Wyke Regis Social Club with the goal coming from Daniel Anderson.
Elsewhere Josh Houghton struck four times as The Balti House hammered Crossways 6-2.
DIVISION THREE
Donhead United lost ground on the leaders AFC Cobham when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Maiden Newton with the hosts’ strike coming from Danny Smith.
Piddlehinton United slipped-up as they were beaten 3-1 by Galaxy FC. Lee Rockingham, Elliott Gould and Paul Cole scored for the hosts.
Portesham stay in fifth place after their entertaining 5-4 win at Bere Regis. Nick White (2) Shaun Cope and Will Spurdle scored for Bere.
DIVISION FOUR
A JAMES Herron goal couldn’t save Puddletown from 4-1 home defeat at title-favourites Handley Sports who now need only two points from their last two games to win the League.
Weymouth Spartans drew a blank at home and were duly beaten 3-0 by promotion-chasing Stalbridge.
Owermoigne aren’t out of the promotion mix just yet despite being held to a 2-2 draw by struggling Swanage Town.
DIVISION FIVE
AFC Blandford extended their lead at the top to six points after their 2-0 win at Broadstone. Donhead United stay in the top four with a 5-1 victory against their visitors from Dorchester CC. Matt Cracknell netted the Dorch consolation.
A 4-3 defeat for Maiden Newton & Cattistock saw them leap-frogged by opponents Handley Sports.
Poundbury A went down 4-1 in their bottom-of-the-table clash at Milbourne Sports.
DIVISIONS FOUR & FIVE LEAGUE CUP
Section One
Galaxy FC got their league cup campaign off to a great start with a 2-1 win at Littlemoor with their strikes coming from Matthew Bird and Antony. Patrick Kenner netted the Littlemoor response.
