17th February 2012AXMINSTER: Chardstock panto is a new spin on Cinderella
Chardstock Amateur Dramatic Society are preparing for probably the last pantomime of the season, a brand new version of the most classic panto tale of all: Cinderella.
This year CADS has the privilege of using a specially written script.
Published writers Peter Mitcheson, June Stevens and Annette Ward, came along to see CADS perform their version of ‘The King’s New Clothes’ in 2010.
They were so impressed by the performance and interpretation of their script, that when penning this new Cinderella script, they did so with Chardstock in mind - inviting CADS to be the first company to use the script.
Rehearsals are in full swing, sets have been constructed and painted, and smoke has been pouring off the wardrobe team’s sewing machines.
Performances take place on Friday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd at Chardstock Community Hall.
The curtain goes up at 7:30pm for evening performances and 3pm at the Saturday matinee.
CADS have a fantastic cast accompanied by a live band, led by Musical Director, David Billing.
The cast includes Silvey Webber as Cinderella, Chris Williamson as Buttons, Matthew Haines & Jonathan Milford as the Ugly Sisters, Mike Spellar as Baron, Jen Boxell as Prince Charming, Robin Webber as Dandini, Annmarie Dixon as Fairy G and Caitlin Jackson as Thingummy the Cat.
The production is directed by Sarah Williamson and Nicola Boxell.
Tickets are on sale now with adults priced at £6 and under 18s £4. They’re available from Chardstock Stores and the George Inn, Chardstock.
