9th February 2012WEYMOUTH: Huge response to job vacancies at refurbished hotel
STAFF were rushed off their feet when interviews for 60 new jobs at a Weymouth hotel attracted more than 600 applicants.
The Riviera at Bowleaze Cove is completing a major £4 million refurbishment which will see the holiday accommodation re-open in March.
General manager Kevin Bungay said they had been overwhelmed by job applications for everything from bar staff and housekeeping to reception and management posts.
He added: “We knew there would be a good response but we never expected 600 applications. That’s ten for every job we were offering which was fantastic for us.
“The standard at interview was very good. It was just what we were looking for and all posts have now been successfully filled.
“All our new staff will have officially joined us within the next week and will be undergoing induction training soon ahead of our re-opening.
“Training will cover everything from health and safety and basic fire safety to food hygiene training to ensure they are fully qualified to work in a safe environment when we re-open.”
