2nd February 2012WEYMOUTH: All aboard the lifeboat
By Harry Walton
PEOPLE clambered all over Weymouth Lifeboat when the town’s station held a special fundraising day as part of the RNLI’s national S.O.S. Day.
A variety of events were held including the all weather and inshore lifeboats both being open to the public.
Other attractions included Thornlow Preparatory School choir, dramatic videos of recent rescues by Weymouth’s lifeboat, refreshments and photo sessions for visitors dressed in lifeboat gear.
Station spokesman Ken Francis said: “We were amazed and very grateful at the huge amount of support we received throughout the day.
“The place was packed and all money we raised during the day will go to general lifeboat funds.”
