SOUTH SOMERSET: MP in the hot seat

LOCAL MP David Laws will be the special guest at an anniversary “chat show” taking place at the David Hall, South Petherton, early next month.

Event spokesman David Lingham, who will be interviewing Mr Laws, said: “South Petherton's own chat show will celebrate five years in 2012, so who better to have back than the very first guest who appeared in 2007 — David Laws, our local MP.

“David has seen a lot of changes since his last appearance here, and it will be fascinating to get an insight from him about having been in the spotlight during that time.

“We are also delighted to confirm that Robin Ballard will be along to tell us about his interesting and varied life, including his medical training and background in the UK, Iran and Africa.

“He also has wide interests in the parish with connections to the infants school, the eclectic band of clock winders, and the church.

“He is well known as an excellent raconteur, talks often about Georgian properties, and promises to be very entertaining.”

The event is a fundraiser for the hall.
