11th January 2012LYME REGIS: New owners transform Staples Stores into Londis
By Francesca Evans
STAPLES Stores in Lyme Regis has joined the national convenience shop chain, Londis, under the new ownership of Mike and Claire Moles.
Since the new owners took over from Sue Williams in early December, the Staples Terrace shop has undergone a full refurbishment and now offers a wider variety of goods, including a selection of wines and real ales, and can now take card payments.
Mr and Mrs Moles are also hoping to soon offer fresh meat, with a focus on local suppliers.
The new owners are continuing the newspaper delivery service, alongside a home delivery service of goods with a minimum cost of £25.
They are also planning to start a petition to bring the National Lottery to Staples Stores, as community support is needed.
As well as running Staples Stores, Mr and Mrs Moles, who live in Seaton, will continue to run their Londis store in Chideock as they have for the past four years.
Mr Moles said: “We are delighted to be in Lyme Regis and the staff here have been absolutely fantastic. We are so pleased with them all.”
All the previous staff have stayed at Staples, plus one new addtion, and Mr and Mrs Moles are hoping build on their team in the future.
Mr Moles added: “We have been spreading our time between our two stores, which is difficult. The Chideock store has gone from strength to strength over the past four years and we want to keep our finger on the pulse over there, but we see great potential in Staples.
“We want to guarantee a community store stays in Lyme Regis.”
