23rd November 2011BRIDPORT: Auction house to host comic book sale
A COLLECTION of rare comic books from across the globe will grab the attention of bidders at the next monthly sale at the Auction House in Bridport.
On offer will be a wide selection of comics from the 1940s as well as a few from the early 1950s.
The comics come mainly from the USA and Britain but there are also rare and obscure examples from Australia and Canada.
Several of these are printed in two colours with the majority being in the more usual four colour.
Among the six lots is an edition of ‘Detective Comics’ from October 1946. This is the publication that first ran Batman and Robin stories.
There is also a single book, ‘The Magic Beano Book’, from 1948.
Also available in the sale will be a mounted and framed photograph of the West Cliff at West Bay, taken between 1911 and 1914 when there was not a single house on the cliff side.
The auction will be held this Friday, November 25th.
