11th November 2011CREWKERNE: Thoughtful gifts
RAINBOWS from a Girlguiding club brought a little sunshine into the lives of care home residents in Crewkerne.
The youngsters took residents of Bowhayes Lodge hand-made gifts as part of a challenge to gain their Girlguiding South West England 40th Birthday Badge.
Gifts included painted eggs, a vase, cakes and pictures. The 13 Rainbows also performed songs to the rapt audience.
The girls, all aged between five and seven-years-old, were handed their badges during a special ceremony after the visit.
Sarah Langdon, known as Rainbow leader ‘Sun’, said they had chosen Bowhayes after speaking about the visit to enthusiastic residents.
She said: “We set the girls a challenge to make something to give the residents so they could gain their badge.
“I wanted to get the girls more involved in the community and to think of others.
“The rainbow promise is to be kind and helpful to others, so we did something we’ve never done before, because it is nice to think of others and to do something for the community.”
She added: “ Some of the girls really thought about what they made to give so I am really impressed with them.”
