10th November 2011WEYMOUTH: Having a say in health and social care services
PATIENTS and users of health and social care services in Dorset are to be given a bigger say in the way standards can be improved.
The new initiative, Dorset HealthWatch, will give people a stronger voice, both at local and national level, to influence health and care services, provide better information about health and wellbeing and support people to complain when services fail to meet their expectations.
HealthWatch is part of a national scheme and is being introduced under the Government’s health care reforms.
Dorset County Council is asking people to get involved in shaping the new initiative and it has organised six public meetings across the county where people can get more information and make their views heard including events at Weymouth and Bridport.
There is no need to book, everyone is welcome and among meetings will be ones on Tuesday, November 15th at Weymouth Community Fire Station on Radipole Lane from 10am-noon and at St Mary’s Church House in South Street, Bridport, from 2pm-4pm.
