3rd November 2011DORCHESTER: Little monsters enjoy fundraising film party
By Anita Harries
Monster fun came to the Corn Exchange in Dorchester as Dorchester Moose presented a “Monsters Inc” Children’s film party to raise funds for Julia’s House, Dorset’s only children’s hospice.
Princesses, witches, cats, and a whole variety of monsters filled the hall with fun, frolics, and a great deal of noise and laughter as many of the children appeared in fancy dress to enjoy an afternoon of first class entertainment.
Krazy Kev set the wheels in motion with a show of magical mayhem before the children settled down to watch Monsters Inc.
Face painting produced a wealth of tigers, butterflies, and some very scary zombies, a children’s tombola saw a variety of furry creatures snatched up by some equally furry kids, whilst a continuous supply of drinks ensured energy supplies were kept at full power.
Possibly two of the most energetic children’s performers on the planet, Krazy Kids, danced, sang, clapped, and careered around the room at a rate of knots, a whole army of children in their wake and even the parents couldn’t escape.
There was nowhere to hide as they were gently persuaded to join in the singing and dancing, and were even given some sweets as a reward if they behaved.
These guys worked up a real sweat, and the kids loved them.
The afternoon ended with the judging of the fancy dress competition, a task which fell to the Krazy Kids.
First prize went to a rather delightful witch, with vouchers including £20 for yummy Cupcakes by Louise, a £5 Phoenix Trading Voucher for mum, and a cuddly Sully straight out of the film. But no-one was a loser, with everybody receiving sweets and stickers for all their efforts.
And everyone went home with a goodie bag courtesy of Dorchester Moose. More than £280 was raised for Julia’s House.

My long time lovely friend Debbi Smith (pictured) is a member of Dorchester Moose and helps organise such wonderful events. She works tirelessly with other helpers to ensure everyone has a great time...and I hear that they always do as you can see in the wonderful photos. If I lived closer I would be there at every event myself but always enjoying hearing about the preparations and the event itself. Well done to everyone at Dorchester Moose and keep up the fabulous work.
