14th October 2011ABBOTSBURY: Bring in the clowns
Abbotsbury Music present a new production by The Garden Opera Company, 'Bring In The Clowns', Impresario by Mozart & Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo, indoors on Tuesday, October 18th.
This year Abbotsbury music have gone indoors due to the rather changeable weather that October now brings us! The performance will be in the restored Electric Palace, South Street, Bridport, which was built originally as an opera house.
'The Impresario' by Mozart is the story of two divas competing for the lead in a new opera, resulting in some most amusing spats and exchanges of insults. The New Garden Opera Company has twinned this with 'Pagliacci' by Leoncavallo, a tale of lust, betrayal and treachery within a group of travelling players. This fully staged and costumed performance of The Impressario and Pagliacci sung in an English translation will be part of The New Garden Opera Company's British tour 2011.
‘Bring In The Clowns’ will be at the Electric Palace on Tuesday, October 18th. Tickets are £20 in advance and £22 on the door. Doors and bars will be open from 6.30pm and the performance will start at 7.30pm. To book seats please ring the Box Office at Bridport Tourist Information Centre: 01308 424901. Tickets and seats are numbered. If you need wheelchair access please let us know in advance. We can only accommodate wheelchairs in the stalls.
