14th October 2011HONITON Local girl attends World Scouting Jamboree
A HONTION scout has just returned from taking part in one of the most exciting events in the scouting calendar.
Zoe Braunton-Turner of the 1st Honiton Scouts was one of a lucky few to be selected to represent Devon Scouts at the World Scouting Jamboree, which took place in Sweden.
Zoe spent two days in Copenhagen meeting up with the rest of the UK Contingent. She then spent 12 days in Sweden at the Jamboree along with 40,000 Scouts from all over the world.
Whilst there Zoe learnt about a lot of different cultures as well as taking part in many activities.
After the Jamboree she spent four days with a host family in the Netherlands who took her to museums and shopping.
She took gifts from the Honiton Museum for the host family as a thank-you, including Honiton Lace.
After returning to England the Devon Jamboree held a reunion event for all the scouts that represented the county in Sweden.
The event was held at the River Dart Country Park.
