13th October 2011DORCHESTER: Magna housing help heroes charity
Magna Housing Group chief executive Graham Colls has handed over a cheque for £350 to Help for Heroes representative Shelagh Addy.
Dorchester-based Magna picked up the money as first prize for its stand at the Chartered Institute of Housing regional conference at Torquay earlier this year.
Based on the theme of ‘opportunities in times of austerity’, the stand was recycled from the previous year and featured a roll-a-penny board and a table laid up for tea for two. It was manned by two members of staff dressed as Land Girls.
Graham Colls said: “Help for Heroes does a wonderful job supporting ordinary men and women who do extraordinary things.
“We have supported this charity in the past. Earlier this year, we were able to present Shelagh with a cheque for £1,000 made up of money raised from our staff ‘dress-down’ days. At the same time, we also presented a similar amount to the Boost appeal for a mammography machine at Dorset County Hospital.”
