THE newly formed Beaminster Chamber of Commerce will create “Brand Beaminster” as they aim to attract more visitors to the town.
At the first autumn members’ meeting, held on Tuesday of last week, it was agreed that that the chamber needed to take an active role promoting Beaminster.
Beaminster Chamber Chairman, Nigel Reeve, said: “The feeling of the meeting was that the town had, for far too long, not told people about its many advantages.”
It was agreed that the chamber should create its own mission statement so members knew exactly what the chamber was trying to achieve and that the chamber should produce its own marketing plan to promote the town.
Mr Reeve added: “We are looking at ways to create ‘Brand Beaminster’. We need to show that the area is somewhere where it’s great for everyone to live, do business, shop or work. It won’t just be promoting Beaminster, it will also involve a number of other areas such as increasing the chamber’s local influence on business matters and actually arranging events to bring people into the town.”
It was also reported at the meeting that interest in the chamber had continued to grow with membership expected to reach 50 members by the end of the year. The new website is expected to be on line in the next few weeks while the chamber was looking to increase its networking events with other local chambers.
