PORTLAND: Counting down to Christmas

SANTA’S on his way and the people of Portland are already making Christmas decorations.

A workshop at the island’s Community 2000 Centre allowed people to decorate wooden stockings, candy, stars and Santas for a hanging Christmas decoration.

Organiser Mary Hayes said: “Every seat was taken and there was real interest because there is barely twelve weeks to go to Christmas.

“We used wooden templates and decorate them in different colours and styles for the hanging. It was up to individual taste what decoration was chosen.

“We also hope to hold more Christmas workshops here in coming weeks.”
