24th August 2011BRIDPORT: Knit-a-thon to end woolly garden project
THE Blooming Marvelous knitted garden project at Bridport Arts Centre will come to a close this Bank Holiday Monday with a mass knit-a-thon event.
The Blooming Marvelous project was organised by Pauline Stanely, who recruited knitting and crochet enthusiasts from across the UK - including WI groups, students, children, housewives and pensioners - to help create the exhibition.
The volunteers came together to knit everything you might find in a garden, including gnomes, flowers and a washing line with underwear.
The arts centre has also been inviting people to come and add to the garden themselves with an open knitting session in the gallery on Saturdays from 12-2pm, the last session will be this weekend.
On the final day of the exhibition, this Bank Holiday Monday (August 29th) there will be a Knit-a-thon on the Arts Centre forecourt between 12 and 2pm.
The centre are aiming to gather together as many knitters and crocheters as possible and are giving an open invite to the people of Bridport to join them.
Admission to the exhibition and connected events is free; for further information contact the box office on 01308 424 204.
