6th July 2011LYME REGIS: Floral tribute to the lifeboat service
A work of art in flowers is drawing the admiration of walkers in Lyme Regis’ Langmoor Gardens.
A flower bed designed and planted by the town council’s head groundsman Barry Trott and his team is a colourful tribute to the RNLI’s 150 years of service to the town. The anniversary is being marked during Lifeboat Week later this month with a special event on July 28th.
Barry and his colleagues planted the flower bed with lobelia, pyrethum, marigold and begonia ...a total of 4,500 plants in all.
‘It took three of us a whole day to plant,” said Barry, “but we are delighted with the result. It was a real challenge and gave us great satisfaction.
“The plants should remain in full colour until the first frost.”
