15th June 2011LYME REGIS: New chairman for Town Mill in its 100th anniversary year
THE Town Mill in Lyme Regis has appointed Chris Savory as its new chairman.
Mr Savory has taken over the position from Godfrey Thomas, who stood as chairman for several years and oversaw the refurbishment of the Town Mill Malthouse.
The new chairman is keen to maintain the ethos of the Town Mill complex, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary year, and to lead the Town Mill Trust in developing the work of the mill in the years to come.
With a background in accountancy, Mr Savory has worked in finance mainly in the health sector across the country. He and his wife Erika bought a house in Lyme Regis in 2004 and currently live in the town at weekends, but plan to permanently move to Lyme in the near future.
His interests include politics, history and gardening, and he previously ran for a position on Lyme Regis Town Council during a by-election in 2009.
Mr Savory said: “I am very much looking forward to working with volunteers, tenants, staff and fellow trustees to build a strong future for the Town Mill.”
